What Happens in a Becoming Parents Intensive?

Bringing a new baby into the world is one of life’s biggest transitions—a swirl of hope, joy, exhaustion, and uncertainty. No matter how prepared you are, parenthood brings up old stories, hidden fears, and new questions about how you’ll walk this road together.

But here’s the truth: Parenthood isn’t just about diapers and schedules. It’s about two people trying to stay connected while life changes fast. It’s about facing the places where your histories, triggers, and dreams collide.

A Becoming Parents Intensive isn’t just another class about swaddling and sleep. It’s a deep dive—a space to prepare your relationship for the emotional weather that comes with loving a new human.

What to Expect

1. Gentle, Guided Exploration
Before we meet, I’ll invite each of you to share your hopes, fears, and any anxieties about parenting—separately or together, whatever feels safest. We’ll start our session by naming what matters most to you, what you want to hold onto, and what you hope to grow.

2. Understanding Attachment & Stress
You’ll discover how your own attachment styles—shaped long before you ever became parents—may show up in your parenting, especially under stress. We’ll talk openly about how babies can bring old wounds and hidden worries to the surface, and how stress can hijack even the best intentions.

3. Honest Conversations & Teamwork
The intensive creates room for honest, vulnerable conversation about parenting philosophies, fears, and potential disagreements—before they become landmines. We’ll practice slowing down, tuning in, and staying on the same team (even when you’re tired, scared, or overwhelmed).

4. Building Your Parenting Plan
You’ll walk away with a customized game plan for weathering emotional storms together. This might include strategies for repairing after arguments, agreements about support and rest, or tools for asking for help when you need it most.

5. Leaving Equipped, Not Overwhelmed
You’ll leave with practical materials—including relevant worksheets, book recommendations, a curated list of podcasts and video series, and a roadmap for repairing the everyday ruptures all new parents face. If you want further support, I’ll provide warm referrals for ongoing counseling or parent groups.
